Effective Yeast Infection Treatment

By Alys G. Parant

Yeast infection left unchecked can put you in significant health decline. The large majority of the time its just an annoyance. When you consider treatment for the fungus candida albicans you basically have two choices, either prescription medication or natural treatments that can be found in most homes.

When you decide on medication for yeast infection treatment, you can choose from ointments, tablets, creams, or suppositories. Antifungal medication usually contains nystatin, tioconazole, clotrimazole, flucanazole, and butoconazole. For males who contracted yeast infection from sexual transmission, they can be treated with antifungal creams and ointments. These medications, however, cannot be taken without a doctors prescription because of the side effects it can cause such as nausea, tiredness, jaundice, vomiting, abdominal pain, and others.

Medications takes about two to three weeks to clear up the infected area, but in some cases, there could be a recurrence " up to five times a year, if the infection does not completely clear up. When there are recurrences, it does not bode well for your health.

Generally when the body loses the fight to control the candida albicans fungus, other parts of the body become possibilities for hosting yeast infections. Depending on where the yeast is found, the procedure for ridding yourself of it could be very different. Internal yeast infection is much harder to treat than other external infections such as a vaginal yeast infection. Your doctor can soon tell you if you have any serious concerns. One of the tests you should ask for from your doctor is a saliva test as this is a simple way to test for internal yeast problems.

From the day you are born, you are susceptible to yeast infections. Doesnt matter if you are a man or a woman, boy or girl or even newborn, you can contract a yeast infection. Yeast infections can range from an annoying skin rash to illness or even death.

For yeast infection treatment, natural remedies are always the best choice. Natural yeast infection treatments can be obtained in prepared formulations. There are supplements with herbs having anti-fungal properties similar to those used for suppositories or oral medications. Topical solutions and mixtures using unsweetened yogurt and garlic are also effective yeast infection treatments. These can provide easy relief for itchy and swelling affected areas.

Toxins in your body can be the gateway to yeast fungus. To get rid of the toxins you can do things like drinking 8 glasses of water daily. Drinking buttermilk and eating yogurt can also help in the yeast infection treatment. Other effective home remedies include olive leaf extract, grapefruit seed tonic and apple cider vinegar.

Aside from these well-known natural remedies, the good bacteria acidophilus from lactobacillus, which is the main ingredient of yogurt, is now available in tonic to enhance the acidity of intestinal tract. Fungi are easily destroyed by an acidic environment. Acidophilus also works on replacing the friendly bacteria in the intestines that had been destroyed by antibiotics medication.
